About

“The Battle of Chicken and Beer” began April 2008 in a café in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The event was to showcase some of New York’s best bboys (breakdancers). With the entrance fee, all-you-can-eat hot wings and all-you-can-drink beer is included. Two years later, the event has flourished from 200 in occupancy, to 700 in spectators. “The Battle of Chicken and Beer” has become one of New York’s famed dance events, with spectators from all over the 5 boroughs, tri-state area, and national recognition. We’ve thrown “The Battle of Chicken and Beer” in two of the five boroughs, Brooklyn and Queens. “The Battle of Chicken and Beer” offers the party-goer a place where the entertainment doesn’t stop. We’ve had some of the best dancers and performers from all over the world compete and showcase their talents; places among which range from Russia, Korea, Austria, Switzerland, and Japan. For the dancer, “the Battle of Chicken and Beer” has become not only a nation-wide success, but an international challenge for the dancers’ favorite dancer to come and prove themselves. We will showcase a preliminary round to uncover the best and top sixteen dancers of the evening. Doors open at 7:30pm, and DJ’s play in one section of the venue, spinning hip-hop, funk, house, soul, and classics. This year “The Battle of Chicken and Beer” will showcase another form of street dance that will set our party with great variety. House dance will be given a platform to showcase the top sixteen dancers in the tri-state area. From the dance nightclub of soul groove and hip energy of base, house will give the competition another feeling of enjoyment and freedom.

We will have a preliminary round to pull out the top sixteen in the house dance competition category earlier in the day. The top sixteen will then be showcased after doors open at 7:30pm. Competition will begin at 9:30pm, starting with the house category, breaking it down to the final eight. Then we will continue onto the breaking category, also narrowing it down to the final 8. Intermission and dance performance will be at 11:30pm. The competition will then continue, as it ultimately narrows down to the top 2 competitors in both categories. At 1:00am, the party will continue with more music, dancing, chicken, and beer.
